Summer is coming, which means it’s time for a well-deserved holiday. Can you think about a better way to spend a week than lying in the sun at the seaside with a good relaxing book in your hands?
In 2005, Lynn Schnurnberger and Janice Kaplan published The Botox Diaries, which was very well received by readers of chick lit and it was well reviewed and praised for being very funny and a real page turner. Lauren Weisberger, the author of The Devil Wears Prada, said after reading The Botox Diaries: “Warning! Reading this book could cause laughter lines! May also lead to sleep deprivation—since once you start, you won’t be able to stop. I loved it.”
So what is it about? Two Women, Jessica Taylor, a single mom who tries to go through her forties with a moisturising cream and little mascara on her eyelashes, and, Lucy Baldor, Jessica’s best friend, a glamorous TV producer that has a very different perspective on her age and how to be at forty. She is all into aging beautifully and treating her body like a temple. The two besties discover that it’s not only men that have a midlife crisis, and they decide to go through it together. That means they spend their time navigating between bake sales and Botox parties and they soon discover that life is not over at forty and with a little bit of effort your forties can be as much fun as the twenties were.
